Every year in Liestal the Chienbaese procession of fire takes place in the central Old Town of the capital of Canton Basel Land . One of the more popular festivals of the region, it is always the evening before the famed Basler Fasnacht and it's well known Morgenstraich procession.
Anywhere except Switzerland , Chienbaesen would have been banned on health and safety grounds. BUT! Being Switzerland the affair is well ordered, prepared and controlled - fire services at hand.
