Once divided by the Berlin Wall, which ran directly through Potsdamer Platz, the revolutions of 1989 in Eastern Europe and the subsequent reunification of Germany saw Potsdamer Platz resurrected as a major intersection in a unified Berlin
Now, unlike when I first came to Berlin, Potsdamer Platz is a vibrant part of the city boasting hotels (including the Ritz Carlton ) and several pubs, bars and restaurants in the area.
Of course, part of the Berlin Wall still stands in Postdamer Platz and, tacky sellers aside, affords an excellent opportunity for pictures with what is now, thankfully, a piece of history.
