Each year in the Swiss capital of Berne the old town is taken over by Fasnachtler - with many troupes throughout the UNESCO-listed old city of Berne Many Fasnachtler troupes have painted faces and, like many other Fasnachtlers in Switzerland, play drums and brass instruments - taking off many popular hits of times gone by.
On the Saturday of the Berner Fasnacht, the old town is taken over for a parade through the old town which ends in front of the Houses of Parliament of Berne.
