Tuesday, the second day of Basler Fasnacht offers the best chance to get up close and personal with the lanterns you saw at Morgestraich. All the lanterns are on display directly in front of the Basler Münster. There's no better chance to wander around the lanterns and work out the subject being lampooned by this lantern this year.
This year, 2012, the financial crisis in the Eurozone is one of the hot topics - and the second lantern in this picture depicts the chaos of the Greek debt problems on a lantern shaped, diplomatically, as a Greek temple with the Hellenic cross on Gable.
